Review & Demo: Bobbi brown long wear gel eyeliner

Eyeliners! Yes, one of the most important cosmetics in every girl’s life. From east to west, north to south girls from every corner of the world love it.
Today I am going to talk about my favorite gel eyeliner. It’s the Bobbi brown long wear gel eyeliner.  I swear by this gel eyeliner. I’ve used few drugstore and local eyeliners before and I was quite happy with those. But when I used this Bobbi brown gel eyeliner I know what the gel liner is!

What the website says:
“A true original. This award-winning long-wearing eyeliner offers the precision of liquid liner with the ease of a gel-based formula—all with 12 hours of waterproof and sweat- and humidity-resistant wear. “

I wear contact lenses so my eyes can’t take every eye product in the market. But Oh My, I can use this eyeliner even on my waterline and it is 100% budge proof and smudge proof and whatever proof on my upper lash line/ eyelid. My waterline is very watery and this is the one which stays for the longest time on my waterline just like my urban decay 24/7 eye pencil perversion.

Main problem with the gel liner is it dries out really quick even before you have finished half of the pot. I have been using Bobbi brown gel liner for the last 10 months and it is still as creamy like before.

I have used the same gel liner on my waterline

Main features:
·         Price: $48 ( I got the set of two), single pot $25
·         Amount: 3g. That will easily last your for more than a year if you use it everyday.
·         Bold opaque color with one stroke.
·         Very long lasting on eyelids. It stays more than 10 hours (I haven’t worn it more than that). Doesn’t smudge or fade.
·         Can be used on waterline and it lasts quite a long time on waterline.
·         The product doesn’t dry out in the pot (using it for the last 10 months and it still feels like the first time I’ve used it.

Cons:
·         Price is quite high. But if you think of how long a pot will last you then it’s not expensive at all.
·         The pot is made of glass. So have to handle it very carefully
·         Doesn’t come with a brush. You have to buy it separately. But if you buy the set you will get a small brush with it which is of very good quality
The Best quality to me: It doesn’t dry out! It doesn’t make any sense if the gel eyeliner dries out too quick no matter how good it is. So in this case the Bobbi brown long wear gel eyeliner has taken the crown.
Will I purchase it again: Yes! 100%.  This Bobbi Brown long-wear gel eyeliner is a staple in my vanity.

As I am a freelancer makeup artist I should have some pro cosmetics I think. So I bought few products from Ben Nye. I have used few of these recently and I am loving it already. All of these are from Camera ready cosmetics.

MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation Review

Hi lovelies! This post is a long due one. I have been using this foundation for three years and every time I use it I just cannot stop thinking how awesome it makes my skin. It is one of the most raved foundations all over the world. Yes! It’s none other than MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation.
MAC Studio Fix Fluid foundation

This foundation has lots of color variation. I don’t think it difficult to find a match, although the MAC counter at Malaysia Airport matched me with NC 45 which is a bit darker from my skin tone. So I bought NC15 from Singapore Airport next year which I mix with my NC 45. I also highlight my face with it. So I will suggest you all to never throw away your foundation if it does not match your skin. You can always buy a lighter/darker one to match your skin and you can highlight/contour with it too. Just make sure the formulations are same since a water based foundation would not mix with an oil based one.
MAC NC 45 and NC 15

What the company says:

“A modern foundation that combines a natural matte finish and medium, buildable coverage with broad spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15 protection. Applies, builds and blends easily and evenly. Comfortable and long-wearing, helps minimize the appearance of pores and imperfections, giving skin a smoother, more flawless look and finish.”

The main features and pros:

·         Price: $ 27

·         Amount: 30 ml/ 1.0 US fl. Oz.

·         It comes in a nice glass bottle with black cap

·         It has SPF 15 in it. So that is good if you are going out in a sun.

·         Although MAC says it gives medium to buildable coverage. But I think it is a pretty full coverage foundation. This foundation hides all my acne scars and dark circles (my under-eye dark circles are not very dark but the 4/5 acne scars are pretty dark.)

·         It does not give a cakey look but if you layer it too much it can look cakey.

·         This foundation actually makes my skin look glowing and beautiful and most of my pores look invisible.

·         It is a long lasting foundation. It stayed on perfect for 7/8 hours with setting powder in winter on my oily face. I look a bit oily after 4/5 hours in summer though. Summer in Bangladesh is really humid. My face sweats in summer a lot but I can still see most of the foundation on my face. I just have to be careful about blotting the sweat with tissue papers.

·         I need only 2 drops of foundation to cover my whole face if I want a full coverage application. A little goes a long way.

·         The foundation is really blendable. I use Sigma F80 for full coverage application and beauty blender for a light natural looking coverage.

Cons:

·         It has SPF so in photos it looks a bit unnatural. It gives a washed away effect. I wish it looked as good as it looks in real life.

·         Smells like paint. It goes away though.

·         MAC Studio Fix Fluid does not come with a pump. So it is difficult sometimes to control the flow.

·         The foundation bottle is made of glass. You never drop the bottle on the floor ever!

·         Quite pricey.

It has a thick consistency.

Without any makeup on

I have dotted the foundation all over my face. used the light one where I wanted to highlight and blended all with Sigma F80 brush (best ever brush for liquid/cream foundation)

All of my acne scars are invisible already on the right side of my face.

I have nothing but the MAC studio fix fluid foundation on my face.
All acne scars are 99% gone.

Tada!! flawless skin I have!! I swear it looked much better in real life than in the photos. As MAC studio fix fluid has spf 15 it gives a whitish tint in the photos.

I made this before-after picture for my facebook page. :)

I love this foundation for the flawless look it gives me.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick

Hi makeup addicts! This time I am going to write about my recent favorite lip product. I think it is going to be my Holy Grail lipstick for a long time. It is the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet lipstick. I have two colors – Grand cru and ole flamingo. I bought it from Boots through Gerbera Daisy. Bangladeshi readers can order it through them J

What the company says:

Exclusive formula: Matte finish and incredibly light. Rouge Edition Velvet by Bourjois is the new era of lipsticks. An amazing, irresistible formula. Its soft, melting texture glides on to the lips and turns into a matt, velvety and incredibly light colour. Lips are left smooth and soft as velvet. Enriched with evanescent oils, it’s incredibly sensuous formula provides a soft, second-skin feel, without drying or fading lips.”

The Main features and pros:

·         Price: £8.99 in boots

·         Amount: 7.7 ml or 0.2 fl oz.

·         Finish: Matte finish

·         Doe foot applicator

·         Very light and comfortable on lips. It feels like nothing is there on my lips

·         Very very very long lasting. I took a shower after applying the lipstick it did not fade a bit. Then I ate and drank and the color was still there. It easily lasts for 12/14 hours on my lips with meals and drinking. I always tend to eat up lipsticks. So, on other’s lips, it may stay longer.

·         It does not crack or crumble at all

·         When I applied it, it was creamy and after a few seconds it dried to a matte finish

·         It does not dry up my lips at all although it has a matte finish.

·         I can easily reapply it without flaking

·         Colors are quite opaque but I have pigmented lips so need to apply a lip pencil to get the perfect color. But that I do for my most of the lipsticks.

·         These lipsticks have a pickle kind of smell, but that goes away after a few seconds.

Cons:

Absolutely none!

Left: Ole Flamingo! Right: Grand Cru

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color Review & Swatches

Hi lovelies!
Recently I have been crazy about wet n wild MegaLast lip color. It is very inexpensive but the quality could be compared to high end lipsticks. In Bangladesh, it is also a raved product and supplies cannot meet the demand as it is out of the stock most of the time. Luckily I got most of the colors and I love each and every of those!

The Colors I will be reviewing are: Bare it all, Mocha-licious, Spiked with Rum, Wine Room, Mauve Outta Here, Cherry Picking, Purty Persimmon, Red Velvet, Stoplight Red, Sugar Plum Fairy, Cherry Bomb, Rose-bud, Smokin' Hot Pink and Don't Blink Pink.

This review is going to be picture heavy :)

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color

What the website says:

“Lips take center stage! This 4-hour, longwearing lip color leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn't cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients: Hyaluronic Microspheres provide extraordinary adhesion to lips, an exclusive polymer complex offers cushion-like feel and texture, and natural marine plant extracts Coenzyme Q10 and Vitamins A & E help smooth lips.”

Wet n Wild MegaLast Lip Color

Main features:
  • ·       Price: BDT. 250-300.
  • ·      It claims to last 4 hours but on my lips it stays on for 7/8 hours or more with a full meal and drinks. I should also include that I tend to eat up lipsticks but these little bullets stay on my lips for VERY long!
  • ·     It is semi matte. When applied on lips it looks a bit glossy but after a few minutes it looks semi matte on the lips.
  • ·      These lipsticks are creamy and opaque. It glides on smoothly with opaque coverage and one swipe on the lips is enough.
  • ·       It does not streak or budge.
  • ·       When they fade out they leave behind a nice tint.
  • ·    Lining your lips and covering it with a same color lip liner will make the lipstick last even longer.

Cons:
  • ·      Packaging, Packaging and Packaging! First of all the packaging looks cheap. Cap does not look sturdy and several times it came out and stained my other cosmetics inside my bag. But the main problem about packaging is the lipstick does not go completely inside the tube. So whenever I tried to put the cap back on, chunks of lipstick got sliced and stained the clear cap badly! It’s very annoying! Other than the packaging, I did not find any other cons about this product.

Only con of this lipstick!

If I ignore the packaging problem these lipsticks are my favorite from the drugstore brands! I have plans to purchase other colors too.

Here are the swatches:
